sick, hungry, in trouble, etc.
Having compassion starts and ends with having compassion for all those unwanted parts of ourselves.

Until he extends the circle of his compassion to all living things, man will not himself find peace.
Mindfulness is about love and loving life. When you cultivate this love, it gives you clarity and compassion for life, and your actions happen in accordance with that.
Compassion is not a feeling. It's a conscious choice we make. It is having both the desire to listen when a friend is in pain, and the kindness to act to help them.
